Pre-conference to the 2013 Conference of the International Communication Association

The goal of this pre-conference is to bring together scholars who are working across sub-fields of communication studies using evolutionary theory, neuroscience and biological measures to address core questions in communication studies.


We welcome submissions from anyone who is interested in participating in the preconference. Even if you aren't hoping to give a talk, please consider submitting a brief paragraph about your work so that we can tailor the day to attendee interest. Abstracts not selected for a full length talk will be included in the data-blitz (one minute intro to you and your work-- can be theoretical or empirical).


To submit, please e-mail a PDF version of your abstract (500-750 words – excluding references) to before 23:59 EST, January 4, 2013.

In your email please include the following information: Author names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, and short description of author expertise.

The preconference will take place at the conference hotel: Hilton London Metropole on June 17, 2013.


Support has been generously provided by the University of Michigan. These fees will cover venue, coffee breaks, and audiovisual costs

  • Post-docs and independent researchers: $75 USD
  • Faculty: $85 USD
